Questions and issues - People's comments so far - Decisions so far

Here are people's comments so far, from Daniel, Jacky, Bev, James T and Martin.

Questions from Daniel

1. What is going wrong now/can be improved?
2. What are the day-to-day solutions to these issues?
3. How do these solutions form to give different organisational structures?
4. Pro's and con's of these organisational structures.
5. Pick one.

Comments from Jacky

1. reporting back to and obtaining input from groups on issues that affect TC as a whole - eg 'position' statements for EERA development plan type scenarios - would like a clearer picture of how this would happen without really dragging on for months at a time
2. how will the hub group make decisions about how to allocate funds to individual groups for projects?
3. minuting of meetings and posting them to the website - hope this will continue - I see that the steering group ran out of energy for this for a while last year hope it can be brought back into the routine of TC life. Anna: I've started trying to fix this.
4. I guess the reps from sub groups by their presence at the hub meeting have a responsibility to feed back to their groups. would like clarification on the how and what of this - eg reporting all of the hub meeting or just the bit that pertains to the sub group?
5. how to manage items for which no one at the hub has energy - I think the role of the hub should be clearly defined - what decisions if any could they make without needing more consent from the sub groups, what things will they do. some kind of publically viewable organisational plan of TC hub and groups would be desireable.

Comments from Bev

Comments from James T.

Comments from Martin

I believe in the Hub approach and my only additional, but I feel important points, are:

1. With the Hub approach each sub-group has a responsibility to send at least one representative to each hub meeting. To their credit, the Steering Group has taken its responsibility to keep meeting and acting very seriously and this must be maintained if an alternative approach is to work.

2. It may be worth asking how many people feel able to volunteer to be a member of a Steering or similar group for an extended period? My feeling is very few since everyone is very busy with other commitments. The hub approach addresses this by delegating that responsibility to the sub-groups so it is shared and therefore hopefully acted upon. The strength therefore comes from the wider organisation and therefore not relying on a very committed few.

3. Ideas for alternative approaches are good and should be explored but they have to be sustainable. In the end someone has to step up and say they will commit to attending.
