10:00-17:00
This weekend Parker’s Piece comes over all foodie, right in the green heart of Cambridge! The Transition Cambridge Food Group stall, on both Saturday and Sunday, will have lots of info about our many projects, including: Cropshare, Garden Share, Grow Your Own and Sustainable Food... so do come along to meet us, and take a look at our Square Foot Gardening display – it’s amazing what you can grow even in a small space. We’d love to hear your ideas for food projects too, and may be able to support you in making them happen. If you have some produce (fruit and veg) that we could use in our display, please contact Rowan who can collect it. If you’d like to help out on the day, contact Liz.

We'll also visit the People's Supermarket aims to be a commercially sustainable social enterprise offering alternative food buying by connecting urban and local farming community. In a change to the previously advertised date, we'll be holding our AGM on 3rd October (we'll announce the venue when we've found one). We'll present what we've been doing over the last year along with the annual accounts. If there are topics you'd like to see discussed, please get in touch and we'll add them to the agenda. The AGM will be followed by a new Transition film from Mark Rotherham of Transition Lancaster (more details to follow). All welcome, free.

Interactive house heat loss model

Nicola has put together a web page to show you roughly where you are losing most heat from your house. Try it on your house! It is based on the simple house heating model in her book.

Cambridge Recycling Schemes - latest info

Cambridge City Council has recently introduced several new recycling services for city residents. You can now recycle small household batteries by attaching them in a bag to your green bin (don't get confused if you live in South Cambs - the villages have this collection with their blue bins!). There are new recycling banks at various sites around the city for recycling plastic pots, tubs and trays (e.g. margarine tubs, yoghurt pots, fruit punnets); books, DVDs, CDs and videos; and small electrical items (e.g. hairdryers, kettles, phones). To find out which sites have the new banks visit www.cambridge.gov.uk/recycling and look at the recycling points map. It is now also possible to recycle plastic wrapping from bread, cereal liners, toilet rolls etc in the carrier bag recycling bins provided by Asda, Co-op, Sainsburys, Tesco, Waitrose and Morrisons.

Have a great week!

Cheers

Rob
