Permaculture is a design system which underpins the Transition model's philosophy. It's based on three ethics: Earth Care, People Care and Fair Shares. (There's lots more information about permaculture on the Permaculture Association website.)
Over the last couple of years, we have been developing our practice through visits to permaculture projects, films, discussions and visits to each other's places. We advertise our events in the Transition weekly bulletin - or you can contact us directly via the link for Ceri and Dave at the bottom of the page. See below for a list of future events
We now also have one "Guild" up and running. A Guild in this context is where two to four people meet up regularly to think about how they can develop their permaculture practice. This system is used extensively for those completing the diploma in Permaculture but there is no reason why that should be a prerequisite. If you are interested in being part of a guild let us know and in the next group newsletter we can advertise for others who are in your area.
Here is the presentation of the year's activity given to Transition Cambridge's AGM on 7th October 2013.
Currently the Permaculture group was meeting on the last Thursday of the month in the 6 Bells Pub, Covent Garden, off Mill Road. This has been suspended at the moment due to low numbers (often 1!) However if there is sufficient interest this will be restarted.
30th January and the last Thursday of every month Permies in pubs A chance to come and chat about/share experiences or ask questions about permaculture at 7.30pm in the Six Bells pub The Six Bells pub, 11 Covent Garden, CB1 2HS We will have a permaculture book or two on the table so you know who we are. We will be in the room just to the back of the main bar area.
If you wish to come to any of these events, please let Ceri&Dave know.
Saturday 6th July 11:00 to 7:00pm London Permaculture Festival The programme featured there is from last year, so please note the date is 6th July not 14th.
Saturday 12th-14th September Permaculture Convergence 2013. Awaiting confirmation that this will be on the edge of Epping Forest, not far from Organic Lea. The expected venue is very close to Cambridge and can be reached easily by train and bike. It would be great to get a strong Cambridge presence there this year so please put the date in your diary.
