Workshop for Community Renewable Energy

Monday 22nd July 6.30pm - 8pm at St. Lukes Church Centre, Victoria Road, CB4 3DZ

Eithne George is a director of Sharenergy, a not for profit organisation which helps communities to set up and own their own renewable energy co-operatives. Sharenergy has experience with a range of renewable enrgy technologies including solar, wind and hydropower, anaerobic digestion and biomass. Eithne is also co-founder of Leominster Community Solar, one of the first solar co-operatives in the UK. While she is in Cambridge she has offered to run a workshop just for us.

This workshop now has representatives from five different potential projects. I'm afraid we can't accommodate any more projects, though if you are involved in one of the five then you will still be welcome. The five are: Transition Cambridge Energy Group, Transition Letchworth Energy Group, Reach Solar Farm, Cambridge WoodWorks and Emmaus.

The workshop is aimed at groups who are interested in exploring real opportunities locally to get a community renewable energy project off the ground. Whether or not you have done this before, this workshop will help you clarify your plans: Eithne has valuable experience in technical, legal, financial and promotional issues around fledgling energy projects.

Eithne will try to find out about local possibilities from her contacts with local councils. It would help very much if we knew in advance, what projects you have in mind. Please let Nicola and Eithne know if you would like to come.

When you come to the workshop, please bring a map of your project area as well as your ideas.
