Quick Reference for Wiki markup

For occasional users of the wiki, here are reminders of how to do common tasks

Logging in to edit

At the bottom of every page there is a navigation panel with a login link at the top left. After logging in, go to any page and you will see an edit link near the top left.

Text styles:

Italicthis is italic (2 quotes, not one double quote)
Boldthis text is bold (triple quotes)
Bullets - start line with ‘*’, or ‘**’ etc for deeper lists
Headings – start line with ! for top level heading, !! for next level etc. NB. The top level is really reserved for the title.

Insert a link

To a wiki page Food Group->TTFood.HomePage
To a document you have uploaded download here->Attach:mydoc.pdf (see below)
Elsewhere on the web text->http://somewhere.else/page.html

Upload a document and add a link to it.

Documents are ‘attached to’ pages. Go to the page and click on ‘Attach’ (top left) for the upload menu. Upload the document. (Make sure there are no spaces in the name of the attachment or you will have trouble with the links.) Then edit the page and create a link to the new document e.g. Download here->Attach:mydoc.pdf.

You can refer to this document from another page if you specify the page too e.g. download here->Attach:TTFood.HomePage/mydoc.pdf

Add a picture

Upload the picture, as if it was a document (above). Then enter e.g. %class=”img-md”%Attach:mypicture.jpg|caption for the picture The class setting allows the picture to adjust size depending on how much room there is on the readers device. Class md is for up to about 300 pixels wide. Use %class=”img-sm”% for up to 150px and %class=”img-lg”% for bigger pictures. More info here

Create a new page

Either create a link to the new page and click on it, or edit the url in your browser to go directly to it (such as https://www.transitioncambridge.org/thewiki/ttwiki/pmwiki.php?n=TTFood.MyNewPage to make a page called MyNewPage in the group TTFood). This will take you to an error page showing a 404 error saying the page does not exist. Below the error message there is a menu called ‘Create new page from site template’. Choose a template, edit and save the page.

Change the title

(:title title of the page:)

Email addresses

Do not put email addresses directly into the text of a page. If you want a link to send someone an email, enter them in the email database and use the link provided.
