Hi Everyone
It’s definitely the time of year for our seed and plant swap on Sunday! There are also two great events to do with wellbeing coming up this week: a chance to tell the Office for National Statistics about sustainability and wellbeing and a wonderful workshop “Coming back to life”. And remember to book for our amazingly good value introduction to permaculture!
19:30-21:30, Friends Meeting House, Jesus Lane
The Office for National Statistics is developing new measures of national well-being. They want to consult with people, organisations and businesses across the UK, to ask what matters most in people's lives and what is important for measuring the nation's well-being. Transition Cambridge is hosting a workshop led by a facilitator from the ONS where we hope to focus on the sustainability issues around well-being - come along and have your say on why living sustainability matters to our current and future wellbeing! More info here.
11:00-17:30, The Junction
A one-day movement and dance workshop with Mark Boylan, a joint venture with Cambsdance. Remembering our sense of embodiment is a good route to remembering what life is or should be about. We will use practices developed as part of ‘The Work That Reconnects’ by Joanna Macy and others and explore them through movement. More information here. Price: £20-£40 sliding scale – pay what you can afford depending on income. Please make cheques payable to ‘Time for Dance’. For queries or to book your place please contact Di Hinds via Heart and Soul group or call 07989 353602. More details here.
09:00-12:30, Cherry Hinton Village Centre, Colville Road, CB1 9EJ
Come and visit our seed and plant swap stall at the table-top sale at Cherry Hinton Village Centre. There will be a variety of vegetable and herb plants and seeds to swap for any surplus you have. A simple and inexpensive way to get more plants for your garden or allotment. Just give what you have and take what you want (within reason!) in return. More details here.
19:30-22:00, 22 Jesus Lane
At our next cafe night, Mary Brunning will demonstrate how to make soy milk and tofu from soya beans, using her Soyquick machine. She will also talk about their nutritional value and how quick, easy and cheap they are to make. The cafe will open at 7:30, and the demonstration will start at 8. All welcome, free!
09:30-17:30, Trumpington Pavilion
Transition Cambridge are organising another Introduction to Permaculture weekend course on 16-17 April. It's a great opportunity to learn design principles and practical approaches for sustainable living, land use and growing some of your own food. Also, permaculture principles are one of the bases of Transition. The teacher is Nicole Freris, from Naturewise in London, who's a very experienced permaculture teacher and facilitator. By all accounts she's great, and very inspiring...!
The cost of this course is £60 (£45 unwaged). For more info, see the Permaculture Group courses or contact Ceri and Dave. The last course was fully booked, so book your place soon!
- Tuesday 19 April: Energy Group Meeting

Here are some photos of the event, a little video celebrating some of the things we’ve done so far, and Rob's write-up of the event on his blog. Thanks to everyone for making the night such a success!
