8pm, the Café Project, 22a Jesus Lane Recently there's been some talk about setting up a local currency for Cambridge, to support local businesses, encourage relocalisation and strengthen our local economy. Several other transition towns have done this, including Totnes, Lewes and most recently Brixton and Stroud. To get us started, Justin Morgan has offered to give a brief introduction to how local currencies work and what they offer to local communities, followed by a general discussion that we hope will be the start of a local currency project group.

If you're interested in looking at new ways that transport in Cambridge can be more sustainable and less reliant on oil, then James Thomas is looking to get a transport group started - let him know if you'd like to be part of it!
I have been trying to source as much of my food locally as I can and I was delighted to find a source for local cooking oil: Munns Rapeseed Oil from Chatteris. I get mine from Angie and Brian's egg stall at the Cambridge Sunday Market (opposite Great St Mary's church), but I'm sure there are other outlets for it. Bev

Cambridge now has a household energy saving co-operative scheme: John Boam, inspired by eavesdropping on a conversation between Cambs Councillors complaining about the lack of one, has put together a comprehensive package using bulk discounts to reduce costs for basics such as insulation, LED lights and draft proofing plus an innovative finance scheme. He also offers renewable energy systems. If you think you might want to join in the scheme, go to http://www.tweakmyhome.co.uk for more details or download a leaflet from http://www.TweakMyHome.co.uk/info.pdf. I'm looking for somewhere to rest a yurt for 6 months as part of an experiment/documentary. I'd like to continue working/living as normal, but simply in a Yurt to experience off-grid living without changing my lifestyle - in short, the best of both worlds. In return for the land, I am happy to pay rent, and/or assist you in any way I can on the land, or with your day-to-day existence. If anyone is interested in helping me succeed this dream: Ben Southworth
Wishing you a satisfying week and thanks to all who sent in information for us!
