Hi everyone,
This week there are lots of exciting transition events!
The Food Group is in its early stages but members are currently looking at how to take forward the many ideas raised at their first meeting. Options range from hands-on support for those wanting to produce their own food to lobbying local government for a comprehensive Food Policy. New members are very welcome.
On 14 August at 7:30pm there will be a showing of "The Power of Community: How Cuba Survived Peak Oil", put on by the The Cambridge Buddhist Centre, 38 Newmarket Rd, Cambridge, CB5 8DT. They have sent us the following information, and you can book on-line here: http://www.cambridgebuddhistcentre.com/events/event_details.php?eid=1977
Worried about peak oil? Transition Cambridge is a local community initiative trying to address this problem. On this evening we shall be showing a film "The Power of Community" which looks at how Cuba addressed a sudden dramatic decrease in the availability of oil during the embargo imposed by the USA. The film is inspiring, upbeat and optimistic. Dharmacharini Satyananadi will introduce the evening and set the issues in a Buddhist context and people from Transition Cambridge will be there to answer questions. Donations (recommended range £2 - £5) to cover the cost of a video license will be welcome. Queries to Satyanandi on 01223 570306
