Hello fellow transitioners!

A couple of people have suggested a weekly 'bulletin' to keep people in the Transition Cambridge loop. In keeping with the Transition motto - unlocking the collective genius of our city - the content & format are very much open to be moulded to your desires. We can use it to spread the word, inspire, connect, educate, energise - and a whole lot more. Let us know what you want!

For this first issue, let's feed ourselves with a few doses of inspiration:

Inspirational...

... Idea: Energy Descent David Holmgren, author of Permaculture: Principles and Pathways Beyond Sustainabilty, writes about the descent down the energy peak, beyond the Oil Age: "The descent will be more hazardous than the climb, and we may have to camp out on a series of plateaus to rest and sit out storms. Having been on the mountain so long, we can barely remember the home in a far-off valley that we fled as it was progressively destroyed by forces we did not understand. But we know that each step brings us closer to a sheltered valley where we can make a new home".

... Project: Sociable Guerilla Bags Check out www.morsbags.com. An amazing grass-roots project offering a deeply satisfying home-made solution to plastic bags. If anyone would like to form a Cambridge 'bagging pod' (because how cool is that title!?), let us know and we can connect up the people and the sewing machines.

... Event: Footprint-Free Food Wild food forager Jacky Sutton-Adam has a couple of walks in the pipeline - Thursday 22nd May at Coe Fen, and then Wednesday 4th June at Midsummer Common. 6.30pm start, £5 per person. To book a place email wildfoodie@gmail.com or phone Jacky 07913 08579. She's also running a Wild Food Lunch and Cook-In at Wandlebury Ring Education Centre on Saturday 31 May 2008 10.30am-2.00pm. Bothered by rising food costs? Want to know how to make your food budget stretch further? Join Jacky to get the know-how with a guided forage and communal cook-in followed by delicious alfresco lunch. £30 (concessions available). Book by noon Mon 26th May - Tel: 01223 243830, thesec@cpswandlebury.org

That's all for now folks. Please please please email your feedback, ideas, and any events or projects you'd like featured in future bulletins - and, indeed, a suggestion for a sexier word than 'bulletin'!

Stay inspired!
