Romsey Community Garden

Welcome to the Romsey Community Garden page!

When to find us

Garden Days usually take place in the afternoon on either a Saturday or a Sunday, and volunteers drop in and out whenever they like. Most of the garden activity occurs during the Summer, but it is still a nice place to still in winter time.

Where to find us

The Garden is on the junction of Madras Road and Marmora Road, off Mill Road in Cambridge. Here is a map: Attach:map_comm_garden_SMALL.jpg Δ

Email us to find out more and ask to join our mailing list if you want to know about any events.

Notice

Currently we are looking for a new coordinator, so our garden days are a little ad hoc, when we have time to organise them. Please get in touch if you'd like to be added to the garden mailing list or would like to help make our garden days happen more regularly! (We are also looking for someone to help keep this web-page up to date - please get in touch if you might be able to help with this!)

the story from the garden

This is how the garden began in 2011...

...but local community members could see the potential!

Now the garden boasts beds of vegetables...

...a scent garden...

...and a whole new group of friends!

About the Community Garden!

In April 2011, Cambridge City Council offered us a plot of land off Mill Road in Cambridge. Since then we've been working hard to turn the once derelict space into a beautiful sustainable garden for everyone to use. Thanks to kind donations (especially of time) by the local community, Romsey has now grown into a brilliant garden space!

The garden boasts

  • flower and vegetable beds
  • a piece of grass for picnics and events
  • a children's garden
  • a herb garden
  • a perfume garden
  • some fruit trees and bushes
  • a wildlife area

The space is available for anyone to use at any time: to work the land; to gather the produce; to sit and relax; to bring friends, a book, or a cup of tea; to hold events; or to attend workshops and gatherings. Gardening gloves and tools are available.

Everyone is welcome regardless of age or experience. Some of our youngest gardeners aren't even walking yet! It is as much about bringing the community together as it is about gardening!
