What we do

We are a well-established community garden run on ecologically sound, organic principles. The garden allows gardening experiences for all ages and abilities and is a space where people can also relax, play, and socialise. There are a variety of types of garden beds and techniques being used. Our core ethos is that of permaculture: Earth Care, People Care, Fair Shares. We aim to learn, teach, experiment, and grow together.

  • Two areas of forest garden.
  • Flower beds
  • Hazel and Spring flower copse
  • Wildlife area
  • Observational bee hive.
  • Large Polytunnel
  • Green roofed shed
  • Camp fire space
  • Compost toilet
  • Good compost, liquid manure making and mulch storage facilities
  • Lovely seating areas
  • A relaxing shady pond corner
  • A fantastic new meeting/tea hut.

Where to find us

We are at the end of Empty Common Allotments, which are accessed via a gate on the corner of Brooklands Ave and Trumpington Road, which is close to the Cambridge Botanic Gardens. You can see a map here.

When to find us

There is generally a group of us in the garden on Sunday mornings from 10.30 am to 12.30 or later, and people are also coming and going during the week - you don't even have to garden just come and enjoy the space!
