Wednesday 01 August - Friday 31: Transition Cambridge's summer break!
09:30-09:30,
Transition Cambridge 'traditionally' takes a summer break in August. You can still join in with projects like Empty Common Community Garden on Sunday mornings (info here); Cropshare on some Saturdays (info here). And if you want to publicise an event, please submit it here. The last Bulletin before the break will be at the end of July, and we'll be back early in September with fun community sustainability events including Repair Cafe's, Circular Cambridge Festival, talks and more!

Monday 03 September: Energy Group Meeting
20:00-22:00, tbc
At this meeting the main topic will be Co-benefits - how to 'sell' low carbon retrofit and behaviours. For example is it worth pointing out the health benefits of cycling or a vegetarian or low meat diet (or do you disagree). Also, insulation brings greater comfort as well as energy savings (or you do you have counter examples). For everyone, reducing waste generally saves money - or is it too much hassle? What do you think are the side-benefits that most add to the appeal of sustainable living?

All welcome, Contact Nicola for venue details.

Monday 24 September: NEW: Bloggers and Bulletineers group
20:00, 6 Bells Covent Garden Cambridge

This is the first in a series of regular gatherings and we are especially interested in welcoming newcomers who can join our bulletin writing and media outreach team. Tuesday 09 October: Transition Cambridge AGM
19:20-21:30, Ann Docwra Room, Friends Meeting House, Jesus Lane, Cambridge
October is the time for our AGM - to review and celebrate what we've been doing over the last year. It's a great opportunity to catch up with friends and hear more about the projects we're excited about and plans we're hatching. All are welcome to come along; however only members can vote (a member is someone who's done some volunteering in the last 12 months). As we're a volunteer organisation, donations are welcome. There will be tea and, of course, cake!

Transition's Car Free Day for Cambridge event
Cambridge Commons' petition for a Car Free day in Cambridge has been gathering support and it's time to think about what Transition might do as a community group to support the idea. Some creative, engaging, inspiring and fun ideas are on the table, and we're now looking for a small group of positive activists to help make it happen. Please contact Jacky if you'd like to be involved with this.

Volunteer Opportunity: Bulletin Writers
Our fortnightly e-bulletin has been published continuously since 2010 and is much appreciated as one of the best round-ups of sustainability-related activities in and around Cambridge. We are seeking one or two volunteers to help edit and publish the fortnightly bulletin and upload it onto the website. The editor writes a short introduction, makes a few web links, then publishes to our list, the Transition website, and finally posts links on our Facebook and Twitter accounts. Some clever web wizardry collates all the listings for you. Commitment level: approx 1 hour per bulletin, on a rota with 3 others, over a time frame to suit you. Skills: basic knowledge of Wiki mark-up language and social media (Twitter and Facebook) Full training offered, please contact the Bulletin Writers' Team to find out more.

Saturday 28 July: Master composter training course
09:30-13:00, Ross Street Community Centre
This is a Garden Organic project - they say "We're thrilled to be launching our nationally recognised volunteer Master Composter programme in Cambridgeshire. The programme is part of the strategy to reduce the burden of waste, by teaching more people how to compost their own waste at home. The programme works by training up local volunteer 'Master Composters' who then go out into their local community to pass on their knowledge to others. We're now looking for enthusiastic local volunteers in Cambridge to get involved. Volunteers will be fully trained, provided with ongoing support, and become part of a network of like-minded volunteers. Being a compost 'expert' is not essential! It's a great opportunity for you to spread the compost message in your local community and encourage more people to start composting at home. The next volunteer training is on Saturday 28 July - contact Garden Organic's Project Coordinator in Cambridgeshire, Charlotte Mulderrig, or call 07752242254."
