Empty Common Community Garden

Meetings: We meet most Sunday mornings at 10:30am for a couple of hours in the garden (map here).

Recently on our blog

This new garden aims to be ecologically sound and is run on organic principles. It allows gardening experiences for all ages and abilities and is a space where people can also relax, play and socialise. All are welcome to come along and get involved!

There are several types of garden beds and techniques being used. It is hoped that as we all learn together we will be able to help each other and new members wishing to learn.

What we already have:

  • Wheelchair-accessible raised beds.
  • Hugelkultur bed.
  • Potager style bed.
  • Vegetable beds.
  • Two areas of forest garden.
  • Hazel for coppicing.
  • Coloured willows for weaving.
  • Bee hive.
  • Polytunnel (to be erected).
  • Seating area with wood-fired kettle (very important!).

Where to find us

We are at the end of Empty Common Allotments, which are accessed via a gate on the corner of Brooklands Ave and Trumpington Road, which is close to the Cambridge Botanic Gardens. You can see a map here.

When to find us

There is generally a group of us in the garden on Sunday mornings from 10.30 am to 12.30 or later, and people are also coming and going during the week - you don't even have to garden just come and enjoy the space!
