Things we need help with

If you've got the time, energy and enthusiasm to help with some of the following, we'd love to hear from you! (E-mail us here.)

  • writing the bulletin (every few weeks, training provided!)
  • fund-raising/writing grants
  • facilitating meetings/acting as secretary to help new TC groups get off the ground
  • writing press-releases / liaising with the media
  • up-dating parts of the web-site - particularly the past events page, i.e. writing up events for the web-site and bulletin
  • help with web design (using pmwiki, so that it matches our lovely new logo)
  • putting up posters for events around town and helping with publicity e.g. putting events on other websites
  • running stalls at events e.g. the Mill Road Winter Fair, local school fetes (and possibly co-ordinating these stalls and keeping track of leaflets etc; also printing off leaflets, researching local printers to find ones that are eco-friendly and not too expensive)

We look forward to hearing from you!

Permaculture group Help Wanted

If you can help with any of the items below please contact us.

  • Looking for items of interest to group and arranging visits. Admin group will publicise.
  • Letting us know what will help you develop your practice.
  • Sharing your experience with the rest of the group.
  • Hosting visits to where you are practising permaculture.
  • Editing and updating these permaculture pages.

Food Group Help Wanted

Please get in touch if you would like to join us in communicating about sustainable food in and around our local area.

We regularly have stalls at the big public events in Cambridge (eg Mill Road Winter Fair, Food, Garden and Produce show) and we need people to help to staff the stall. This involves talking to the public about food sustainability issues and promoting our wonderful projects (cropshare, garden share etc). Don’t worry – we’ll give you the info you’ll need! Also, we welcome donations of produce (fruit and veg), and little plants in season. They are offered on our stalls in exchange for donations (of money!).

From time to time, there are opportunities to do a workshop on aspects of producing food eg growing your own fruit and veg, keeping chickens. Sometimes we’re asked to do a talk on a food-related topic eg ‘Making the most of food’.

We often need help publicising our events – designing posters, putting them up, updating this website and others, social media, and so on.

Please get in touch if you would like to help us. You’re also welcome to come along to one of our regular fortnightly meetings in Cambridge. These are on Tuesdays 6.30 till 8.30pm – you can find the dates and venues in the Transition Bulletin and the Transition Events page.

Energy Group Help Wanted

Please email us if you would like to help or contribute your ideas, whether or not you can come to meetings.

At the moment we are particularly looking for assistance with:

  • Authoring FAQ pages and fact sheets, both writing the answers and writing the questions so you don't have to be an expert to help. Some ideas for more:, heritage buildings ...

Skillshare Group Help Wanted

The SkillShare group (a partnership between Transition and Cambridge Carbon Footprint) is in need of some new energy, so would very much welcome some new people to get involved. Over the last couple of years we've helped run SkillsFests, Repair Cafes and a Restart Party, all of which were very popular. We'd love some help taking these ideas or other skillsharing ideas forward! (Email us here.)
